This past week brought a hard freeze to parts of the area. Temperatures right along the ocean stayed above freezing, however inland areas were well below freezing. I recorded a low of 27 on the 20th, but more inland locations had temperatures down to 20. When I was out and about, I noticed that some blossoms were burned by the cold, especially the magnolia blossoms. Conditions are becoming dry as rainfall has been below average since the start of the year. So far, March has had less than 50% of the normal rain. Pollen is becoming noticeable. Frogs have been peeping for about 3 weeks now, and wasps and slugs are now active.
