Station Number: IL-BN-19
Station Name: Belvidere 5.0 NNW
Report Date: 3/25/2023
Submitted: 3/25/2023 7:23 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Wet
Description:
Hardly any precip occurred this week until last night’s winter storm that brought us 4.9” of heavy, wet snow with a SWE of .58”. We were approaching a mildly wet soil condition but now it appears moderately wet will remain. My spring is currently flowing at almost the same rate as last week with the local creek and river down just a bit. The bigger Rock River is still on the high side but not excessively so. As of yesterday, the two local geese were still hanging out here and appeared content . Maple trees were budding and sap was visibly dripping on the pavement. Ramps, daffodils and hyacinths continued to grow with the hyacinths not too far from flowering and area lawns were beginning to get green. But right now the ground is covered in wet snow, the trees are white with their branches drooping while heavy stratus clouds persist. It looks like winter all over again. Maybe this cool March will be balanced out with a warm April, time will tell.
