Description:
For the week ending 11/3/2024, conditions were SEVERELY DRY. 61%The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 0.18 inches was 77% below the expected 13-year (2009-2022) average of 0.78 inches and in the “mildly dry” range; the 30-day total of 1.25 inches was 63% below the expected 13-year average of 3.42 inches and in the “severely dry” range; and the 90-day total of 6.53 inches was 36% below the expected 13-year average of 10.25 inches and in the “severely dry” range. There was one day of measurable precipitation, with a max of 0.18 inches on the 1st. Precipitation Trends—October-to-End: 1.07 inches (down 3.03 inches, 26% of PRISM Normal; Calendar Year-to-Date: 35.34 inches (down 0.77 inches, 98% of PRISM Normal). Temps ranged from 81 F (on the 29th) to 32 F (on the 2nd), with average Hi/Lo temps of 66/49 F (-2/+5 relative to the previous week). A heavy frost on the 2nd. We experienced major leaf fall with rain and strong winds in mid-week. Autumn colors are still nice but now definitely past their prime. American Goldfinches continue to be extremely abundant, with an average of 40-50 or more attending feeders daily. The dry fall has been a boon to farmers, who have been busy harvesting corn and soybeans.
