Some rain and a bit of snow has come our way but not nearly enough. Our local little brook , South Branch Mill River (into Springfield) and the larger one in town, The Scantic River (into Conn.), are both still way down on what would be normal for this time of year. They came up a bit when it rained but quickly dropped as there is nothing in ground storage to sustain the flow.
Forest fires are down and none locally for a couple weeks now.
Wildlife seems OK. Security camera caught an opossum the other night. Birds flock to the feeders and nothing seems unusual there.
At this time of year of course nothing is growing here.
Though we are going into a cold spell, it has been warmer this year than last. Smart thermostat says we burnt less oil compared to this time last year for the past four weeks.
