Since last report, we have received 5.24 inches of rain. We have been told that we are no longer in drought conditions. However, the ground (at least before today's cloudburst) was somewhat damp in places and dry in others. This past week we had very high temperatures for June (mid to upper nineties), and we had to limit time outside. Extreme heat advisories were announced throughout the week.
We lost one of the cucumber hills, but the vegetables are growing well after the rains we have been getting. We planted sweet potatoes, some more peppers and eggplant. The beans and snap peas are about a foot high.
We have also planted some cabbages and are using shade cloth when it has been hot.
We had a bluebird nest in the newspaper box that we typically use to store dog toys. We saw four (4) babies hatch and fledge this month! It was nice to see the little ones so close by.
