Just over a half inch of rain this week was enough to keep the vegetation growing but not enough to raise the water levels in streams and rivers. Fields and forest are seasonably dry. Hiking trails on Greylock are dry and the cool, clear holiday weather brought out many hikers. Garden vegetables continue to grow well. Our mulberry tree is producing a heavy crop and raspberries and blueberries are starting to ripen. Lawn growth has slowed to only require weekly mowing. Day lilies are flowering.
