Not much rain this week, just 0.37” plus two T readings. Morning temperatures remained in a more normal range of high 60s and low 70s, comfortable for sleeping with just a window fan (no AC needed). Feels about right for early summer.
Plants are beginning to shift from early bloomers to mid-summer flowers. Yucca plants opened their flower spikes this week, a few Shasta daisies flowered as well. Buds on the Rose of Sharon and goldenrod continue to get bigger, while most of the milkweed flowers have passed (a few are already creating their seed pods). The clematis that kind of cooked in the heat a couple weeks ago has created a new vine with new buds - determined to flower this year as it has for some forty years now. Produce at the farm stores and farmers market is nearing the end of strawberries, blueberries and corn are now available.
We had perfect weather for the 4th of July, comfortable temps, low humidity and no clouds (for most) to diminish the fireworks. Weather forecasters are predicting higher temps, afternoon thunderstorms, and typical summer days.
