Gauge Catch
0.84 in.
Notes
This much-needed 0.84" fell during two separate periods...the latter of which was much more significant: 1) The first 0.09" fell mainly 730-930am on the 25th as steady light rain well to the north of heavier thunderstorm activity focused 40-70 miles to the south...2) The final 0.75" fell mainly 930pm-5am as numerous showers/non-severe thunderstorms passed through, with this location residing along the southern fringes of a larger-scale swath of convection that was centered only slightly to the north (see side notes). SIDE NOTE 1...A MUCH-NEEDED RAIN: This 0.84 boosted the April-to-date total to 1.23", more than tripling the going monthly amount of merely 0.39". SIDE NOTE 2...NEAR-MISS TO A MUCH BIGGER RAIN: while this 0.84" was very much appreciated, this location resided just south of much-higher 24-hour totals. In fact, the NWS office 6 miles north of here picked up 2.35" (almost 3x as much as here), while a coworker/fellow CoCoRaHS observer 15 miles north of here registered 4.58" (nearly 5.5x as much as here!).
